Educational Programs

The ANSC offers educational field trips and outreach programs for students of all ages from pre-k to senior citizens. Participatory programs engage students in activities designed to integrate subject areas such as science, math, language arts, and the use of technology while supporting concepts prescribed in the National Science Standards and Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills.

The Teacher Resource Guide - a list of programs and fees - is published every August. The registration form is included in this brochure. Brochures are mailed to elementary school teachers in Austin, Eanes, Pflugerville, Round Rock, and Del Valle school districts; please call (512) 327-8181 for a copy.

Teachers may also register for "On Your Own Tours." Please call 327-8181 for information, reservations, and fee schedule.

Collaborative Projects

For the past three years the Austin Nature and Science Center has been the only science center site in Texas to participate in a national program called Public Science Day. This unique collaboration between the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia, and Unisys Corporation provides support for science centers and students to work on a semester long project utilizing technology in the study of science. Our projects have been:

"It's a Pond's Life"
The 2001 partnership with Zavala Elementary.		 "Fond of Ponds"
The 2000 partnership with Baranoff Elementary.		 "Splash Student Project"
The 1999 partnership with Becker Elementary.
