SUMMARY

Attached is the 2nd report on our 2005 risk assessment project, in which we assessed risk levels for all City departments. The need for a true Citywide assessment has become increasingly clear to us over the last three years as we have assessed only one-third of the City each year. To fill the need for a Citywide assessment with minimum use of resources, we have streamlined our data gathering and analysis tools so that a full assessment can be made as needed every three to five years.

Our results are intended to show where there may be greater impact if significant problems emerge, and thus serve as a focusing tool for targeting limited audit and management resources in the areas of greatest need.

The results of this assessment will be considered, along with Council and other stakeholder input, in developing OCA’s 2006 performance plan.
