Winner, Best Audit, 1999
The National Association of Local Government Auditors(N.A.L.G.A.) selected the City of Austin Auditor's Office report on the City's Customer Information System to receive the Knighton Award for Best Audit in the Large Audit Shop category for 1999.
Austin competed against other large governments for the Knighton Award including previous winners such as Kansas City, Portland, and King county in Washington State.
This is the fourth year Austin submitted an entry, but the first year to achieve the highest recognition.
The Office of the City | Auditor was a finalist in 1996 with their Citywide audit of Performance Measurement and Reporting; and in 1995 with their Youth Partnered Audit: Austin/Travis County Juvenile Justice System audit report.
Criteria used in evaluating audits for the Knighton include:
