Office of the City Auditor: ServicesHome | Performance | Services | Reports | Audit & Finance Committee | Employment | Outreach | Investigations | Awards | Links & Resources The Office of the City Auditor provides two types of services: Audit Services and Integrity Services.Through our Audit Services, we conduct performance audits and follow-up on recommendations made in previous audits. Our performance audits and follow-up audits are approved by the Audit and Finance Committee in each year's Service Plan. We also spend some time providing responses to requests for information from members of the City Council. Through our Integrity Services, we conduct investigations of potential integrity violations including fraud, waste, and abuse related to City services and programs. During such investigations, we may work with the Austin Police Department, elected officials, City management, or other appropriate external agencies to ensure facts we gather are appropriately communicated and acted upon. In addition to investigations, we also conduct fraud detection and prevention activities as well as reviews of management controls designed to prevent or detect fraud, waste, and abuse. Any of these Integrity Services activities can result in the issuance of suggestions for improvements in management controls which we address to appropriate levels of City management for action.
