June 2008 sets passenger record, Passenger & Air Cargo traffic at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport
ACTIVITY OVERVIEW
June 2008
Passenger Activity: June 2008 marked the highest number of passengers in a single month traveling through Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. Total passenger traffic for June 2008 was 869,308, up 8.5% compared to June 2007. This broke the previous single month passenger record of 832,455 set in July 2007. Though May 2008 was previously reported as a single month passenger record, revised numbers recently received from airlines lowered May’s monthly total. May 2008 passengers totaled 826,192, up 5.5% over May 2007.
June 2008 enplanements totaled 452,073, up 9%. Southwest Airlines passengers totaled 305,118, up 12% compared to June 2007; American Airlines (including Trans States) passengers totaled 213,591, down 3%; Continental Airlines passengers totaled 82,916, down 5%; Delta Air Lines (including SkyWest Airlines, Shuttle America, and Atlantic Southeast Airlines) passengers totaled 65,312, down 16%; United Airlines (including SkyWest and Mesa) passengers totaled 45,701, up 26%; JetBlue Airways passengers totaled 38,272, up 70%; U.S. Airways (including Mesa) passengers totaled 31,393, up 41%; Northwest Airlines (including Pinnacle Airlines) passengers 26,264, up 31%; Frontier Airlines passengers totaled 22,474, up 10%; Express Jet Airlines passengers totaled 15,348, down 21%; vivaAerobus passengers totaled 10,837; Midwest Airlines passengers totaled 4,060; Air Canada passengers totaled 2,873; Aeromexico totaled 2,407 passengers down 32%.
June 2008 air cargo totaled 16,370,669 lbs., down 11% compared to June 2007. International air cargo totaled 389,727 down 3.5%. Federal Express carried 7.4 million lbs., down 23.5%; ABX Air, Inc. carried 3.1 million lbs., up 6%; and United Parcel Service carried 2.7 million lbs., down 1.5%.
Air Services transferred 642,198 lbs of mail, up 504%; and 1.8 million lbs. of belly freight, down 14%.
Aircraft Operations: General Aviation operations totaled 6,033 up 8%. Combined operations (including Commercial and military) totaled 18,549, up 7 %.
January – June 2008 Year-to-Date
Passenger Activity: Total passenger traffic for January – June YTD was 4,551,830, up 6% compared to January – June 2007. January – June 2008 enplanements totaled 2,333,799, up 6%. Southwest Airlines passengers totaled 1,601,468, up 8%; American Airlines (including Trans States) passengers totaled 1,158,352, down 1%; Continental Airlines passengers totaled 497,103, down 3%; Delta Air Lines (including SkyWest Airlines, Shuttle America, and Atlantic Southeast Airlines) passengers 362,622, down 9%; United Airlines (including SkyWest, and Mesa) passengers totaled 214,250, up 2.5%; JetBlue Airways passengers totaled 151,714, up 32.5%; U.S. Airways (including Mesa) passengers totaled 151,605, up 13.5%; Northwest Airlines (including Pinnacle Airlines) passengers totaled 129,332, up 8%; Frontier Airlines passengers totaled 112,291, up 9.5%; Express Jet Airlines passengers totaled 97,667, up 184.5%; Midwest Airlines passengers totaled 23,019; vivaAerobus passengers totaled 21,857; Aeromexico totaled 10,281 passengers, down 7%; Air Canada passengers totaled 5,559.
June YTD (January – June 2008) air cargo totaled 105,511,056 lbs., up 4.5%. International air cargo totaled 2,471,585 lbs., down 0.08%. Federal Express carried 51.1 million lbs., up 0.6%; ABX Air, Inc. carried 19.2 million lbs., up 21%; and United Parcel Service carried 16.4 million lbs., up 1%.
Air Services transferred 3,186,229 lbs of mail, up 32%; and 10.8 million lbs. of belly freight, down 9.5%.
Aircraft Operations: General Aviation operations totaled 38,399 for January – June YTD, up 6%. Combined operations (including Commercial and military) totaled 111,399, up 9.5%.
