AIRPORT PYLONS
Texas Chair Project & Something New from AVAA

Metal, glass, and rock mix in this multi-media show from the Austin Museum of Art (AMOA) and the Austin Visual Arts Society (AVAA) featuring the unique works of seven native artists and their use of materials such as metal, limestone and glass.

On display through January 12, 2009

Little Heroes: Photographs of Children

Little Heroes: Photographs of Children is an exhibition of photographs drawn from last year’s popular Witliff’s Southwestern & Mexican Photography Collection exhibit. It features original prints y such world-renowned photographers as Lázaro Blanco, Keith Carter, James Evans, Héctor García, Graciela Iturbide, Robb Kendrick, Russell Lee, and Mariana Yampolsky. Works show children enjoying themselves in various time at activities. The oldest picture in the collection is a 1937 original Russell Lee photo of children playing on an improvised wagon wheel found on a Great Depression era farm. More recent photos show the magic of kids in their Halloween costumes, the look of affection a child has for a puppy and the simple joy and wonder on the face of a children while at play.

WEST AIRSIDE GALLERY
Austin Stitchery Guild

The Austin Stitchery Guild showcases embroidery, beadwork and other forms of stitchery made by 16 member artists. Using a needle and a variety of threads and stitches, the stitchers have created texture, embellishment, and ornamental interest on fabric, many of which are three dimensional in nature and look like real objects from nature.

On display through November 05, 2008.

Austin Past & Present Exhibit located across from Bag Carousel 1, next to the escalators in the lower level of the airport terminal.

AUSTIN PAST AND PRESENT EXHIBIT
Travel through Austin’s history with Austin Past and Present. A multimedia presentation, Austin Past and Present is a comprehensive documentary that chronicles Austin’s past through a dynamic, interactive exhibit. From pre-historic archeological study through the frontier days and on to the 21st Century, viewers can pick an era or take the entire trip. Filled with historic photos, film and audio recordings from more than 160 other archival collections including the Austin History Center, it features 300 slide shows comprising 1,600 images and accompanying stories.

BERGSTROM AIR FORCE BASE HISTORY EXHIBIT
Bergstrom-Austin Community Council
An exhibition honoring the memory of Bergstrom Air Force Base, former site of ABIA.

Location: Across from Gates 14 and 15

AUSTIN SISTER CITIES INTERNATIONAL EXHIBIT
Five cases containing gifts from Austin's sister cities
Includes a samurai warrior, kimono-clad dolls, woven bamboo baskets, metal sculptures, and a multi-colored serape, among others.
