United Airlines starts Los Angeles –Austin nonstop on Feb. 13, 2008

AUSTIN, TEXAS – United Airlines will begin new, daily, nonstop service between Austin, Texas and Los Angeles, Calif. on February 13, 2008.

“Heading to Los Angeles for work or pleasure is now easier than ever for our customers in Austin,” said Kevin Knight, United’s senior vice president – Planning. “This new service gives our customers more convenient connections to Asia, Hawaii and the entire west coast.”

In addition to expanding flight options for travelers between Austin and Los Angeles, the new service means Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (ABIA) is now connected with all five United hubs in the U.S. These United hubs connect to over 200 destinations world wide including Asia, South America, Europe and Australia. The five United hubs are in San Francisco, Denver, Chicago, Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles. From Los Angeles, travelers can make easy connections to Sydney, Australia and destinations in the South Pacific. Flights will depart Austin-Bergstrom International Airport at 4:34 p.m., arriving in Los Angeles at 5:59 p.m. Flights will depart Los Angeles at 11:13 a.m. and arrive in Austin at 4:03 p.m. (all times local). To book a flight, visit www.united.com. Customers will earn 500 bonus miles each time they purchase qualifying travel at united.com, which also offers no booking fees and the guaranteed lowest United fares.

The Austin-Los Angeles service will be flown on United Express via its explus regional service that offers United First and Economy Plus seating. Customers flying on United Express’ explus service will enjoy the first regional jet service with three seating options, including the premium amenities of United First and extra legroom of Economy Plus, as well as full-sized leather seats and large overhead bins.

Austin-Bergstrom International Airport has nonstop service to 52 destinations in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. Nearly 8.9 million passengers came through Austin-Bergstrom International in 2007.
