Community Service Restitution
Community Service Restitution is designed to hold offenders accountable for their actions and instill the concept that public order offending does have consequences. It also provides a vehicle for offenders to restore the community for the harm they have done. One of the core principles of the Downtown Austin Community Court is holding offenders accountable for their behavior. Offenders receive swiftly imposed; yet meaningful, community service that the court monitors daily for compliance.
Community Service Projects have included:
- SXSW - musical festival cleanup
- Waller and Shoal Creek - litter pickup (every Wednesday)
- St. Patrick's Day - aftermath cleanup
- Lance Armstrong Parade - litter pickup
- Austin Fine Arts Festival - litter pickup
- Safewalk - litter pickup
- Earth Day at Waterloo Park - litter pickup

Rehabilitation Services
Many offenders who commit a "quality of life" offense are lacking in certain social and medical needs that Community Court seeks to address. The goal of the court is to identify and address needs, remove treatment barriers and engage offenders so they are less likely to continue criminal behavior. Rehabilitation Services seeks to restore offenders and give them every opportunity to make changes in their life.
