Statistically Valid Community Survey
A statistically valid survey was constructed to test the results of the November community forums against a random selection of demographically-matched Austinites. ETC Institute, a member of the consultant team who has previously conducted citizen satisfaction surveys for the City of Austin, conducted the surveys. Their instructions were to provide a statistically valid survey of Austin and the ETJ, as well as each of the five geographic outreach areas, matched to Austin's race and ethnicity demographics. Their method is to use mail-out surveys, combined with follow-up calls and follow-up telephone surveys. They also conduct telephone surveys in Spanish.
