The Dougherty Arts Center is NOT CURRENTLY TAKING APPLICATIONS for the Julia C. Butridge Gallery space.
The Julia C. Butridge Gallery is located in the Dougherty Arts Center, which is a multi-use facility managed by the City of Austin Cultural Affairs Division, Parks and Recreation Department. Our gallery is a cultural environment with high visibility located in Austin's community arts center, which also houses an art school and a theater. The gallery features 1,800 square feet of space, with 170 linear feet of wall space and halogen track lighting. The rotating schedule of exhibitions features artworks of all media and subject matter. Criteria for selection include demonstrated need, history of the artist or sponsoring group, suitability of the space for the proposed exhibition, and number of artists and citizens to be served.
Julia C. Butridge Gallery does not take a commission on any artwork sold during the course of an exhibition, and gallery staff will direct all sales inquires to the sponsoring artist or organization.
All exhibits are afforded property insurance coverage under the Fine-Arts Floater on the City of Austin property insurance policy. The City of Austin assumes no responsibility for any object resulting in a claim, valued below the deductible as carried on the City's property insurance policy for Fine Arts. This deductible amount is the responsibility of the artist.
