Driskill Hotel - 6th Street & Brazos Street

Summary

This project includes the construction of curb ramps and sidewalk improvements needed to meet compliance obligations under the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990. The curb ramp work in the Central Business District is the highest priority work towards making Austin an accessible city.

Status

The project is complete. The orange fencing that is currently on the corner belongs to the Driskill Hotel. The temporary fencing is for work they are doing to their portico on the 6th Street side of the Hotel.

Description

The west side of the intersection at 6th and Brazos, particularly the Driskill Hotel corner, was brought into alignment with the rest of 6th Street. This project entailed regrading sidewalk, improving affected utilities, repaving the sidewalks, and significant ADA work. In addition, four alley entrances in the vicinity were improved, as well as the southwest corner of the intersection.
