Scattered Cooperative Infill Housing Program (SCIP 2)

Summary

SCIP 2 is designed to redevelop an area between East 11th and 12th Streets and Branch and Navasota Streets into a revitalized residential community through the construction of 100 affordable housing units for low and moderate income families. The project is being implemented by the Anderson Community Development Corporation (ACDC) with Federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME funds. The project consists of 48 rental and 52 homeownership units and will be managed by the ACDC and monitored by the City of Austin Neighborhood Housing and Community Development Office.

Status

Currently, funding for the project totals $3,530,000 provided by the City of Austin for the acquisition of land, a portion of the construction cost, and down payment assistance for 100 lower income housing units. Additionally, the State of Texas has committed $500,000 in funds for down payment assistance for 52 of the units that will be homeownership units. Eleven (11) houses are presently under construction with completion expected November 1997. Construction on the second panel of houses of sixteen (16) is scheduled to begin in mid-October and late November 1.
