Summary
This project will provide PARD with a Preservation Plan for the home of William Sydney Porter located at 409 E. 5th Street. This plan will address reasonable options for building use and recommend a continuing maintenance schedule. This project will also provide for the O. Henry Museum Restoration - Phase I, which is scheduled for completion in October 1995.
Status
Construction is approximately 64% complete. Interim control of lead-containing paint has begun.
Issues
Interim control methodology and completion of revised abatement specifications and award and execution of contract for hazardous materials monitoring has delayed the project.
Description
The scope of work for the O. Henry Museum Restoration - Phase I will include restoration of the building exterior, removal, treatment and replacements of wood borer infested flooring, house leveling, development of handicapped access, and placement of electric service underground. The scope of work for the O. Henry Museum Restoration - Phase II will include restoration of the building interior. The scope of work for the O. Henry Museum Restoration - Phase III will include museum addition.
