Pamela Penick converted
her St. Augustine lawn in Central Austin to a welcoming native
plant showcase.

A bed near the front entry includes
yellow blooms of coreopsis, rose flowering pavonia (rock rose),
and shrubby cenizo (Texas sage).

| The potted plant and walkway provide a focal
point for the entry, which is encircled with beds of native
plants. |
|
The native plants attract wildlife to Pam's
collection of birdhouses. |
|
Another of the fun features in the yard is the perennially
blooming vine - if flowers are out of season, attach a metal
flower! |

A source of natural water for
plants, the rain barrel also provides fresh water for wildlife
as it feeds this container pond.
5 years later -- still growing strong!
