Just a few years ago, Doris Coward and Debbie
Volker
bought a new house in this old, north Hyde Park neighborhood. |
Landscape architect, Bud Twilley,
created the design and did some of the strenuous rock work
and hardscapes, but most of the plant installation was done
by Doris and Debbie. |
Today, with the help of an established landscape, the
house fits in beautifully with its older neighbors.
Colorful flowers and antique roses
blend nicely with the evergreen shrubs to provide a nice
backdrop from the front porch. |
| |
The back yard is a
showplace. The hog wire trellis with
tangerine crossvine
provides privacy from the neighbors. |
| |
Another
trellis shields the large rainbarrel that
collects rainwater
from the garage. |
| |
The beautiful, two-tiered
carp pond provides
a focal point for the backyard… |
and the
hungry fish arrive for breakfast. |
The large
river stones contrast nicely with the granite pathways
throughout the back |
| |
Doris and
Debbie are looking for a lawnmower that will cut the dense
buffalo grass at a higher level. |
The landscape is capped off with a
very lush, dense area on the rear property line, again providing
an evergreen interest with touches of
color throughout the
year. |
