Have you ever been to a home that has three green dragons??
Well, Praveeta and Bill Rose live
in one. |
The
dragon is the feng shui symbol of protection, abundance
and good health. It takes a little imagination, but using
pathways and different colored foliage and plant heights,
Bill, a landscape designer, creates the form of a dragon. |
| |
There
are many red and purple plants in the yard to represent
the fiery head of the dragon, with fern often imitating
the mane. |
| |
Bubbling
water is another feng shui technique that represents prosperity
and sustenance. The beautiful pond flows towards the dining
room, where they take their daily meals. |
Bill started with the
back yard when designing their landscape. Curb appeal was
less important to him than their personal enjoyment. This
quiet corner holds more tropical plants which are maintained
by drainage flow from neighboring yards. Buddha greets each
visiting guest at the entrance to the meditation area. |
| The
rainwater harvesting barrels and the rich compost nourish
the surrounding plants. |
| |
The front
yard redesign got started when a builder friend offered
Bill a large number of liriopes. The lush green color has
a cooling effect, even on a hot summer day. |
| |
| Agaves and succulents are
new plants for Bill and Praveeta to explore. The bulbine,
aloe vera and cenizo like this very sunny spot. |
| |
| The garden provides
charming beds that offer different colors and textures throughout
the yard. Enjoy a tour through some of the most diverse. |
| |
If you put them all together, you
find a yard that welcomes family and guest alike.
