Report to Council

In May 2001, the Austin City Council asked staff to assess the City's landscaping programs for their water quality benefits. There were four components to the Council request:

1. Evaluate Austin's programs against others throughout the country
2. Organize a landscaping summit, (with 100 citizen participants)
3. Ensure City departments' landscaping practices are environmentally responsible
4. Assess six City programs for water quality enhancements including:
   • Grow Green
   • Water Conservation
   • Green Building
   • Dillo Dirt
   • Composting
   • Parks and Recreation
   • Yard Trimming Collection
