Fall 2003 - 2007 Kinney Avenue, South Austin
House and Front Trees

Ornate Iron Gate A metal gate custom-designed by Lars Stanley leads you into the front yard.

Brick Back Patio Deciduous trees are important to any green garden, but the shade they give us can be a big obstacle to gardening. McKinney plants spring flowers that take advantage of the sunlight available before the leaves bud out.

Landscape architect Eleanor McKinney has created a beautiful arrangement of native and adapted plants in front of her south Austin home. The front lawn of buffalo grass gets mowed only once a year.

Beautyberry Bush

The arching branches of the native beautyberry become weighted with clusters of purple berries each fall.

Rail Barrel

This large rain barrel provides water needed for the vegetable garden.
