Employment Data
While demographic data indicates where people live, it does not usually indicate where they work. The location of major employment centers has a significant impact on present and future land use and transportation needs.
Products Provided
Developing and maintaining employment data is a time-consuming process. This is due to a variety of reasons, chief among them the necessity of the private sector to maintain confidential information about employees. The role of the Neighborhood Planning and Zoning Department in this process has evolved into providing encouragement and assistance to other agencies, but not taking an active role in data gathering. Most of the data on this site originated from the Texas Workforce Commission, the Chamber of Commerce, and the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization.
