Homeless Assistance Programs

Prevention Services

Activities or programs such as Front Steps are designed to prevent the incidence of homelessness.

Supportive Services

Services concerned with employment, health, drug abuse, and education.

Emergency Shelter

The primary purpose of an emergency shelter is to provide temporary or transitional shelter for the homeless or for specific populations of the homeless. Most serve specific sub-populations including single adults, families with children, survivors of domestic violence, youth, and pregnant and/or parenting teens.

Transitional Housing

A type of supportive housing used to facilitate the movement of homeless individuals and families to permanent housing. Generally limited to 6 to 24 months.
