Emergency Shelter
The primary purpose of an emergency shelter is to provide temporary or transitional shelter for the homeless or for specific populations of the homeless. Most serve specific sub-populations including single adults, families with children, survivors of domestic violence, youth, and pregnant and/or parenting teens.
Transitional Housing
A type of supportive housing used to facilitate the movement of homeless individuals and families to permanent housing. Generally limited to 6 to 24 months.
