Citizen Participation Plan--Schedule of eventsFor Immediate ReleaseMarch 1, 2004 Austin citizens are encouraged to participate in identifying critical community needs as the City of Austin prepares to develop its Consolidated Plan for fiscal years 2005-2009. The plan allocates more than $65 million in Federal resources to meet the housing and community development needs of Austin's low-and moderate-income residents. The City's Neighborhood Housing and Community Development Office is responsible for preparing the Plan. The annual Action Plan (which is approved by the Austin City Council and the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development -HUD) outlines activities and programs that will be funded based on the priorities in the Consolidated Plan. There are two public hearings on the Draft Consolidated Plan and Draft Action Plan. *NHCD may request proposals for the different activities and programs approved in the Action Plan. Please take advantage of the following opportunities for public input. - CDC: Tuesday, February 10 at 6:30PM Conley-Guerrero Senior Activity Center, 808 Nile St. - CDC: Tuesday, March 9 at 6:30PM Rosewood-Zaragosa Neighborhood Center, 2800 Webberville Rd. - HIV Planning Council: March 16 at 7PM, Rosewood Zaragosa Neighborhood Center, 2800 Webberville Rd. - CAN: Monday, March 15 at 7:30PM One Texas Center, 505 Barton Springs Rd., Room 325 - March 11 at 6PM: LCRA, Hancock Bldg, Board Room, 3700 Lake Austin Blvd. - City Council: May 13 at 6PM: LCRA, Hancock Bldg, Board Room, 3700 Lake Austin Blvd. - CDC: May 11 at 6:30PM: Rosewood-Zaragosa Neighborhood Center, 2800 Webberville A summary of testimony from the public will be used to help the City identify community needs and allocate funding accordingly. A summary of all public comments will be published in the final Action Plan Community Needs Surveys are available at 20 community locations beginning February 23. An analysis of survey responses will be used to track the City's progress toward meeting its five-year Consolidated Plan goals. The Community Needs Survey analysis will be published in the final Action Plan.
