Citizen Participation Plan--Schedule of events

Austin citizens are encouraged to participate in identifying critical community needs as the City of Austin prepares to develop its Consolidated Plan for fiscal years 2005-2009. The plan allocates more than $65 million in Federal resources to meet the housing and community development needs of Austin's low-and moderate-income residents. The City's Neighborhood Housing and Community Development Office is responsible for preparing the Plan.

The annual Action Plan (which is approved by the Austin City Council and the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development -HUD) outlines activities and programs that will be funded based on the priorities in the Consolidated Plan. There are two public hearings on the Draft Consolidated Plan and Draft Action Plan. *NHCD may request proposals for the different activities and programs approved in the Action Plan.

- CDC: May 11 at 6:30PM: Rosewood-Zaragosa Neighborhood Center, 2800 Webberville

A summary of testimony from the public will be used to help the City identify community needs and allocate funding accordingly. A summary of all public comments will be published in the final Action Plan

Community Needs Surveys are available at 20 community locations beginning February 23. There is a limit of one survey per household. For more information, please call 974-3100 (voice) or 974-3102 (TDD). An analysis of survey responses will be used to track the City's progress toward meeting its five-year Consolidated Plan goals. The Community Needs Survey analysis will be published in the final Action Plan.
