Barnes and Noble hosts book signing for seniorsFor Immediate ReleaseMay 7, 2004 The Austin Housing Finance Corporation (AHFC) and Southwest Housing are proud to announce that residents of Primrose of Shadow Creek will sign copies of "Recipes and Remembrance from the Cooks at Primrose of Shadow Creek" on May 8, 2004. The cookbook includes 182 recipes submitted by about many of the residents. The book signing will take place from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at Barnes and Noble, 2701 Parker Road, Round Rock, Texas 78681. Residents will also be available to answer questions and provide samples of featured dishes. "This has been an on-going project for the past year," Kathleen Anderson, Resident Services Coordinator stated. All proceeds are split between the Arts & Crafts Committee and the Hospitality Committee. The Hospitality Committee plans on purchasing a musical keyboard to entertain residents at pool parties and other outdoor events. Residents have sold almost 100 copies. Barnes and Noble pre-sold 25 copies and City of Austin staff sold several copies on behalf of the residents. Copies of this cookbook can be purchased at Barnes and Noble or by contacting Kathleen Anderson at (512) 419-1525, the cost is $8.00 each. Primrose at Shadow Creek, 176 unit apartment community exclusively for active adults 55 or better, offers residents scheduled transportation, activity coordination, exercise programs, food assistance, prescription program, health education program, computer classes, and outings and trips. The AHFC provided part of the financing for the 176-unit development and Southwest Housing is the developer. Located at 1026 Clayton Lane (290 & IH-35) in Austin, Primrose of Shadow Creek features a Jr. Olympic swimming pool (wheelchair accessible), community center and library, large recreation room for social activities and events including a Large Screen TV, and gourmet kitchen area for entertaining. In addition, residents also enjoy the added convenience of having access to banks, Highland Mall (which offers a variety of department stores and small-store retailers such as Foley's and Dillard's and JC Penny?s), Austin Public Libraries, the St. David's Medical Center and Brackenridge Hospital.
