Affordable housing groundbreaking in Montopolis

The Austin Housing Finance Corporation (AHFC) is moving forward with a new affordable housing subdivision in the Montopolis neighborhood.

The new subdivision will be located off of Frontier Valley Drive on approximately 19 acres of land and will provide the Montopolis neighborhood with 81 new homes. The homes will be sold to homebuyers earning 80% or below the Austin Median Family Income (MFI), currently $56, 900 for a family of four, with special effort to serve families at 65% or below MFI.

This new development serves AHFC’s mission to generate and implement strategic housing solutions for the benefit of low– and moderate-income residents of the City of Austin.

AHFC is partnering with non-profit Community Housing Development Organizations city-wide to build the homes. The new homes will be built to the City of Austin’s S.M.A.R.T.HousingTM standards with special attention to energy efficiency using Green Building Design principles.

Infrastructure construction will begin this month. Home construction could begin as early as summer 2006 with home sales in early fall 2006.

The City of Austin is committed to compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended. Reasonable modifications and equal access to communications will be provided upon request. Please call 974-3100 (voice) or 974-3102 (TDD) for assistance. This project is made possible by funding from HUD through the City of Austin.
