BBC Research and Consulting was selected by competitive purchasing rules, and Council approved the contract award on August 7, 2008, which was executed in September 2008. Stakeholder meetings were led by BBC with more than 100 stakeholders and key person interviews contributed over the course of the study. News and Events November 3, 2008 The City of Austin launched an online survey Monday, November 3, 2008, as part of its Comprehensive Housing Market Study to better understand the characteristics of Austin's residential market. The survey focused on affordability needs now and through the next two decades. The Comprehensive Housing Market Study was overseen by the Neighborhood Housing and Community Development Office and was being conducted in part by BBC Research and Consulting, a firm that specializes in housing market evaluations. The firm's expertise lies in housing market supply and demand modeling, affordable housing needs assessments; and housing needs studies for special needs populations. The online outreach was one of several components of the community input process. The process included:
August 7, 2008 The Austin City Council approved Agenda Item #42 Thursday, Aug. 7, 2008, which authorized execution of a contract with BBC Research & Consulting, a firm based in Denver, Colorado. The firm will assist in developing the City of Austin’s Comprehensive Housing Market Study. The City of Austin's Neighborhood Housing and Community Development (NHCD) Office issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) from research firms and consultants qualified and experienced in housing market data collection and analysis to conduct the Comprehensive Housing Market Study. Funding was approved for the study in the NHCD’s Fiscal Year 2007-2008 Capital Budget. The public had an opportunity to provide feedback as one component of the study.
