Take Action—Preserve Your Treasures
photo of book spine being repaired

Using the generous help of the Austin Genealogical Society membership and artist/illustrator Caleb Engler, a new exhibit is now in place in the lobby of the Austin History Center. This exhibit titled: "Take Action: Preserve Your Treasures," is designed to call attention to the tools and processes that everyone should take to preserve materials from light, dust, insects, and improper handling and environmental conditions.

The exhibit cases and wall feature phase box building processes, care of books and paper, care of photographic materials, helpful printed resources from the AHC professional collection, and illustrate some of the detrimental effects of inappropriate storage. Mounted copies of historic images from the collection and also materials from the archives and manuscripts grace the walls.
