About the Mayor's Book Club
The Austin Public Library, in conjunction with the mayor’s office, launched its fourth annual citywide reading campaign in April 2005 to develop a community experience through reading and discussion of a shared book. Since the launch, the book has been checked out over 1,000 times by library customers and bookstores have reported good sales throughout the 6 month program. The City of Austin and the Austin Public Library would like to thank the sponsor of this year's Mayor's Book Club, Texas Gas Service, and our media partners, the Austin American-Statesman Inside Line, the Austin Chronicle. Additionally, we thank our partners who have been with the program since the beginning, The University of Texas Humanities Institute, the Austin Public Library Foundation, the Friends of the Austin Public Library and area bookstores.
