A Family Program at Old Quarry Branch "Living Over the Aquifer"
On Tuesday, May 15, 2001 at 4:00 p.m. the Old Quarry Branch, 7051 Village Center Drive, will host a special program for families. The program is designed for children ages 6 and up and encourages family participation. The presenters of the program will be hydro-geologist, Nico Hauwert, and environmental educator, Susan Wall, both from the City of Austin Watershed Protection Department. The children and their parents will learn about the geology of Central Texas and specifically the Northwest Austin area. The specialists will teach about the influence of urban areas on the aquifer, and other natural areas in the Old Quarry neighborhood. The program will offer an optional field trip to the rock quarry across the street from the Library.
