UT STUDENTS PROVIDE ADVICE ON PRESERVING FAMILY HISTORY
The Society of American Archivists - UT Student Chapter and the Austin History Center invite you to a free Archives Clinic on Saturday, October 20, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Austin History Center, 810 Guadalupe Street. Students and faculty from the University of Texas Graduate School of Library and Information Science, along with staff archivists from the Austin History Center, will be available to share advice on organization, storage, and archival preservation.
Documents, photos, and home movies represent your family's history. Experts like those working at the Austin History Center and training at the University of Texas work to preserve items that document our society's heritage. Come to the Archives Clinic to find out how to best organize, store, and preserve the materials that make up your family's heritage.
Everyone is welcome to bring in family photos, slides, scrapbooks, documents, and home movies to get specific answers to your questions. Staff and students will provide recommendations on how best to handle your special materials and will invite you to explore examples that will be on hand. Free literature will be available.
The Society of American Archivists - UT Student Chapter is an organization of students in the Graduate School of Library and Information Science archival enterprise program at the University of Texas. Every year the Chapter hosts Archives Week as a way to promote awareness of the importance of archives and their use within society. For a complete list of the events hosted during this year's Archives Week (October 14-20), please visit our Web site at: http://www.gslis.utexas.edu/~archweek/.
