Final Work to Mechanical Unit Closes the Austin History Center for a Week
The Austin History Center of the Austin Public Library located at 9th and Guadalupe Streets, will close on Monday, September 23 through Friday, September 27 to finish out the work to the Center’s cold storage vaults. The History Center’s current back-up Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) unit was in need of replacement due to its age and failure rate. The HVAC unit plays a very important preservation function for the Austin History Center. The mechanical unit controls the temperature and humidity of the rooms where the storage of over 700,000 Austin and Travis County photographic prints and negatives are kept.
