Partner in Early Literacy

KimLehman

On Tuesday, October 22, 2002 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Easter Seals, Central Texas will host a family literacy fair. The fair will take place at the Rehabilitation Center, 919 W. 28 ˝ Street. The literacy fair will help children ages 0-5 and their families learn how to have better reading skills in the future. Austin Public Library Youth Specialist, Kim Lehman, will present a storytime session for the attending families. Kim combines stories, music and props to create entertaining and educational programs for children and adults. There will be children’s books donated by the Austin Public Library, snacks and parent handouts at the fair. The mission of the Easter Seals, Central Texas is to create solutions and change lives of children and adults with disabilities and those who care for them. “We are extremely pleased to assist Easter Seals with their first family literacy fair,” says Anita Joye Rizley, Youth Program Coordinator for the Austin Public Library. “This type of literacy program meets the Library’s goal of developing and nurturing children’s lifelong love of reading, literature, and the library.”
