Self-Check Introduced at Little Walnut Creek Branch
This week, at an unwrapping ceremony the Library Foundation and the staff at Little Walnut Creek Branch Library thanked 3M for their generous gift of a self-check machine. Stephanie Neely, Managing Librarian, Tom Moran, Assistant Library Director, Margaret Henkels, Executive Director, and several Foundation board members were present to thank 3M, Russell Bridges, Community Affairs Director. The 3M gift is valued at more than $33,000. As part of the celebration Stephanie Neely gave ESL students from nearby Austin Community College a demonstration on how to use the machine.

The Library staff is spread very thin, and the Library Foundation procured the gift of a self-check machine for the Little Walnut Creek Branch from 3M this summer. Little Walnut Creek is one of the busiest branch locations in the system, and welcomed more than 217,000 visitors last year. If patrons can check out their own books and materials, staff members can devote their energies to answering questions from young and old alike.
