Spring Author Series@APL with Austin Writer Spike Gillespie
The Austin Public Library and the Friends of the Library will host free adult writing workshops with Austin writer Spike Gillespie as part of the Library’s ongoing Spring Author Series. Five library locations will participate in the series:
- Tuesday, March 30, the Faulk Central Library will host a workshop at the Austin History Center, 810 Guadalupe from 7:00–8:30 p.m.
- Saturday, April 3, the Windsor Park Branch 5833 Westminster Drive from 2:00-3:30 p.m.
- Tuesday, April 6, the Pleasant Hill Branch 211 E. William Cannon Drive from 7:00–8:30 p.m.
- Wednesday, April 7, the Ruiz Branch 1600 Grove Blvd from 5:00-6:00 p.m. This workshop is for young adults ages 11 to 16.
- Wednesday, April 7 the Hampton Branch at Oak Hill 5125 Convict Hill Road from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
In these workshops, Spike describes her life as a writer, answers questions about writing, and leads participants in several fun and very helpful writing exercises, with an emphasis on memoir writing. For more information call (512) 974-7400 or visit www.cityofaustin.org/library
About the Author
Spike Gillespie is an essayist, novelist, poet and report with twenty years of writing and editing experience. Her writing has appeared in The New York Times Magazine, The Washington Post, Smithsonian Magazine, and many others. She is the author of two books.
