Exhibit Titled "Take Action: Preserve Your Treasures"
Have you ever wondered how to best preserve your personal treasures such as old letters and photographs? If so, stop by the Austin History Center and view their most current exhibit titled "Take Action: Preserve Your Treasures." With the generous help of the Austin Genealogical Society membership and artist/illustrator Caleb Engler, this new exhibit is now on display in the lobby of the Austin History Center. The exhibit is designed to call attention to the tools and processes that everyone should take to preserve materials from light, dust, insects, and improper handling and environmental conditions.
The exhibit cases and walls feature phase box building processes, care of books and paper, care of photographic materials, and helpful printed resources from the Austin History Center professional collection, which illustrate some of the detrimental effects of inappropriate storage. Mounted copies of historic images from the collection and also materials from the archives and manuscripts grace the walls.
This exhibit will remain through the Thanksgiving Holiday.
