Austin Public Library Honors Friends Volunteer Kim Lindros
On April 21, 2005 at a City Wide volunteer appreciation event at city hall, the Austin Public Library and the City of Austin honored the many volunteers who help us provide services to the public. Kim Lindros was specially honored as one of ten outstanding City volunteers. Library Director Brenda Branch announced Kims selection with the following remarks:
Kim Lindros, volunteer extraordinaire, has been volunteering for the Austin Public Library for 4+ years with a total of over 105 hours. She has served since 2001 as either the Chair or CoChair of the Friends annual Monster Book Sale. Under her leadership the sale has grown and as a result the Friends donate between $36,000-$50,000 per year to the Austin Public Library for much needed equipment, furniture and public programs.
Kim has an amazing ability to inspire people. She is innovative, always coming up with new ideas. She inspires people because of her generosity of spirit and goodwill.
Whenever a volunteer is needed, Kim is there to staff a table at an event or to serve refreshments. She will do whatever it takes to help the library. And she does it in a positive, fun loving manner that makes others want to participate. I am thrilled that we have an opportunity to say thank you to someone who has meant so much to the Austin Public Library staff and the hundreds of volunteers she inspires.
The following volunteers were nominated by their APL co-workers for their outstanding service:
Lisa Cox-black
Helen Bruner
Gordon Doig
