ARCHIVES WEEK EVENTS EXAMINE THE POLITICS OF ARCHIVES
Austin, TX – How might archives inform us about contemporary and recent political events and controversies? The University of Texas student chapter of the Society of American Archivists and the Austin History Center have organized an exciting week of panels, discussions, and workshops to answer these questions and more. Attend the lectures and find out what archival records reveal concerning the Robert F. Kennedy assassination, especially given that next year will be the 40th anniversary of this prominent American’s untimely death; additionally, you can learn about the nature of Latin America political regimes, and how they use archives to seize and retain power. Finally, bring your own family history and personal archival materials to the Archives Clinic at the Austin History Center and have experts provide tips on preserving it for generations to come.
