About Paul Saucido and RRD07
RRD, created by Latin Music Journalist/Host Paul Saucido (LATV-live!, LA Weekly, La Banda Elastica) has been the Latin Music Director at ME Television since November 2005. His daily show, Sonido Boombox, has garnered positive praise and recognition from Austin musicians and, more importantly, the savvy Latino core viewers.
Dias De Los Muertos
Dias de los Muertos, also known as the Days of the Dead, is a traditional Mexican Holiday honoring the dead. This holiday is celebrated every year the same week as Halloween and the same days as the Christian holy days of All Saints Day and All Souls Day (November 1 and 2). Do not be fooled … Los Dias de los Muertos is far from a sad time, but instead, a celebration of remembering souls lost and rejoicing in their glory.
Last Year’s Facts:
RRD 2006 attracted more than 600 people in its inaugural celebration, a huge feat for a music scene that receives critical praise yet is rarely rewarded with any radio or TV play.
RRD 2006 co-branded the event with Spanish radio digital 104.9 FM, ESPN Deportes, Ahora Si, and El Mundo newspapers.
RRD 2006 received top critic’s picks in the Austin Chronicle, Austin 360, The Austinist and Conexion Rockera.
RRD 2006 spread like wild fire to the internet with pages on pod casts, MySpace and YouTube. Through this hot viral new media method, RRD reached more than 3000 new fans.
With a small initial start-off budget, RRD 2006 exceeded profit expectations. Both a local cultural event and fundraiser, RRD 2006 raised more than $4000 for worthy charities: the Austin Public Library Foundation, Austin Latino Music Association and the Mexican American Cultural Center.
