Cowboy and Indian Ghost Stories in Honor of Native American Heritage Month with Award Winning Storytellers, Tim Tingle and Doc Moore
On Tuesday, November 20, 2007 at 6:00 p.m., the Hampton Branch at Oak Hill, Austin Public Library located in southwest Austin at 5125 Convict Hill Rd will present an evening of storytelling in honor of Native American Heritage Month. Tim Tingle and Doc Moore will present Cowboy and Indian Ghost Stories. The program, which includes stories from their first collaboration as authors, Texas Ghost Stories: Fifty Favorites for the Telling ranges from the humorous to the deadly serious. Story selection will be sensitive to the age make-up of the audience making this an event the whole family can enjoy. Tim Tingle and Doc Moore are both regulars on the Ghost Story Concert at the Texas Storytelling Festival. The program is free and open to the public. About the Storytellers:
Tim Tingle is an enrolled member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, a sought-after speaker and storyteller, and an award-winning author of Native American fiction and folklore. Choctaw Chief Gregory Pyle has requested a story by Tingle previous to his Annual State of the Nation Address at the Choctaw Labor Day Gathering—a celebration that attracts over thirty thousand people—from 2002 to the present. Doc Moore brings over thirty-five years of public school and university teaching experience to the telling of history, folk, ghost, and inspirational stories. A popular performer for the past twelve years at the Texas Folklife Festival, he appears regularly at local, state, regional and national festivals. As a humorist, Doc won the prestigious Austin Liar’s Championship in 2002.
