Meet the Author Mike Kearby
Meet the Author Mike Kearby at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 10 at the Austin History Center of the Austin Public Library, 810 Guadalupe St. for the discussion topic The Loss of Identity Among the Southern Plains Indians. Kearby is author of a popular Reconstruction Era Young Adult trilogy that includes Ambush at Mustang Canyon, Ride the Desperate Trail, and The Road to a Hanging. Kearby will give a free copy of Ambush at Mustang Canyon to any Middle School or High School student who comes to the program and shows a student ID. A book signing will follow the discussion and light refreshments will be served.This program is free and open to the public. About the Author
Mike Kearby is from Mineral Wells, Texas, where helicopter pilots trained during the Viet Nam war. Mike remembers sensing the unspoken racial divisions in his town during the Civil Rights Movement. His love of the Western genre and the African-American story come together in Ride the Desperate Trail and in his debut novel, The Road to a Hanging.
