The first Southwest Book, Photo and Ephemera Show kicks off on Saturday, November 13, at the Crockett Special Events Center in Austin. This show offers over 200 vendors of new, rare and old books, many unusual types of photos, and other paper collectibles. A portion of the gate is being donated to the Friends of the Austin Public Library for the Summer Reading Program and the Texas State Historical Association. Proceeds from a silent auction on Saturday will be donated to the battlefield preservation fund of the Austin Civil War Round Table.
The show, which runs through Sunday, November 14, will have an extensive lineup of authors on hand to sign copies of their books, such as Former Texas Ranger Ramiro Martinez for his new book "They Call Me Ranger Ray," Mike Cox: "Texas Ranger Tales," Glenn Dromgoole: "A Small Town in Texas, Growing Up in the 50's and 60's," Crystal Sasse Ragsdale: "Women and Children of the Alamo," Mary Margaret Amberson: "I Would Rather Sleep in Texas: A History of the Lower Rio Grande Valley," Bill Crawford and John Anderson: "Pass the Biscuits Pappy," Sarah Paige, et al.: "Writing Austin Lives," and many more.
