UNIVERSITY HILLS BRANCH TO REOPEN AUGUST 19 PAST NEWS ARCHIVE
Features will include "The Monkey and the Crocodile," a puppet show for children by Deborah Orr, at 11:00 a.m. Refreshments will also be provided. The facility closed on February 28, 2000 for renovations costing approximately a half million dollars, including the installation of a new heating/ventilation/air conditioning and controls system, new carpet, repainting of all interior and exterior surfaces, provision of a new circulation desk, roof repairs, and resurfacing/restriping of the parking lot. Four public computers will now be available for Internet and word processing. In addition, six public computers will be available in the remodeled, state-of-the-art Michael and Susan Dell Wired for Youth computer center, where youths will learn computer skills, type reports, surf the Internet, and create Web pages. University Hills Branch will also offer a large selection of popular feature films and audiocassettes. One meeting room is now dedicated to the VICTORY Tutoring Program. Even the original Art in Public Places exterior sculpture, "Color at Play," has been restored by its creator, artist Mary Visser. The event is free and the public is invited to attend. # FOR MORE INFORMATION, CONTACT:
