PAST NEWS ARCHIVE
November 29, 2000

To formally usher in the season, the Austin History Center Association will be hosting its annual Holiday Open House at the Austin History Center on Sunday, December 3, 2000 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. For the occasion, the Austin History Center will be dressed from head to toe in elegant holiday decorations, including a twinkling 12-foot Christmas tree in the main lobby. Other features include the music of the Austin Children's Choir, a wonderful exhibition of antique dolls courtesy of the Austin Doll Collectors' Society, and an electric train display sponsored by the AustNtrak Model Railroad Club. The doll exhibit, entitled "Hello Dollies!," will run December 3, 2000-January 7, 2001 and may be seen during regular hours at the Austin History Center. The model railroad, on the other hand, will be on display ONLY during the Open House, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. on December 3.

Light refreshments will accompany this traditional one-day event at the Austin History Center, which is free and open to the general public. The Austin History Center is located at 9th and Guadalupe, adjacent to the Faulk Central Library, and serves as the local history branch of the City's Public Library System. The Austin History Center is open: 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Thursday; 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday and Saturday; and 12 noon-6 p.m. Sunday.
