Austin Public Library Giving a Gift of Holiday Cheer!
Faulk Central Library will bring a little holiday cheer and spirit with special treats for all Library visitors. On Friday and Saturday, December 21 and 22, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. the Faulk Central Library will offer a free cup of coffee to all Library customers. "Through this special promotion the Library would like to show our appreciation to our customers and supporters—for their patronage and support during this past year," says Brenda Branch, Library Director.
At 10:30 a.m. on Friday a puppet show On The Bright Side presented by the notorious Hand to Mouth Puppet Theatre, will delight both children and adults. In conjunction with our holiday promotion visitors will be able view a model of the new City Hall located in the front lobby of the Faulk Central Library. As you get your cup of coffee you can take a brief stroll next door to the Austin History Center where a fabulous puppet exhibition is on view. The exhibit, entitled PUPPETS!: From Sock Figures to Sicilian Marionettes, features hand-carved wooden marionettes from master puppeteer Don Harms, some amazing puppets from Nancy Renfro Studios and the Hand-To-Mouth Puppet Theatre, two 4-foot marionettes from the Stanley Marcus Collection of the Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center, and a wonderful collection of figures from puppet shows of the Austin Public Library. These whimsical and intriguing puppets will surely delight young and old alike.
The hours of the Puppet exhibit are from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. The coffee promotion will be available both on Friday, December 21, and Saturday December 22, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Please join us for a cup of coffee, come to an amazing puppet show, view a wonderful exhibit or just come relax and read a book—it's all available at the Faulk Central Library and Austin History Center this Holiday Season! All activities are free and the public is invited to attend. The coffee promotion sponsored by the Austin Public Library Foundation.
