City administrative offices close Jan. 1 for New Year’s

City of Austin administrative offices, including offices of City Council, will be closed Thursday, Jan. 1, 2009, in observance of New Year’s Day.

City offices will be open New Year’s Eve, and normal business hours will resume on Friday, Jan. 2.

There will be no collection of regularly scheduled garbage, recycling and yard trimmings on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2009. Pay-as-You Throw services will slide one day on Jan. 1. Customers will receive their collection a day later than regularly scheduled.

The Pay-as-You-Throw New Year’s collection schedule is:

Thursday customers: Collection on Friday, Jan. 2, 2009
The regular collection schedule will resume on Monday, January 5, 2009.

All City of Austin libraries will close at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31 through Thursday, Jan. 1. The Austin Nature and Science Center and City museums will also be closed Thursday, Jan. 1. Regular hours resume on Friday, Jan. 2, after New Year’s.

All City of Austin recreation and senior activity centers will be closed on Jan. 1. All recreation centers will be open until 6 p.m. on Dec. 31. Senior Centers will close at 5 p.m. on Dec. 31. For operating hours, visit the Parks and Recreation site at www.cityofaustin.org/parks.
