City announces Christmas holiday schedule

Dec. 17, 2008

City of Austin administrative offices, including offices of City Council, will be closed Wednesday through Friday, Dec. 24-26, in observance of the Christmas holiday.

Normal business hours will resume on Monday, Dec. 29, after the Christmas holiday.

Pay-as-You Throw services will slide one day beginning Thursday, Dec. 25, 2008.  City of Austin Solid Waste Services customers will be on a "slide schedule" during the rest of the week.  Thursday’s collection will slide to Friday, and Friday’s collection will slide to Saturday.

The Pay-as-You-Throw Christmas collection schedule is:

Thursday customers:  Collection on Friday, Dec. 26, 2008
Friday customers:  Collection on Saturday, Dec. 27, 2008
The Pay-as-You-Throw regular collection schedule will resume for garbage, recycling and yard trimmings on Monday, Dec. 29, 2008.

All City of Austin libraries will be closed Dec. 24-26. The Austin Nature and Science Center and City museums will also be closed Dec. 24-26. Regular hours resume Dec. 27.

All City pools, except for Barton Springs Pool, will be closed on Christmas Day. Big Stacy, Balcones, Dick Nichols and Deep Eddy pools are closed Dec. 25. Check www.cityofaustin.org/parks/aquatics.htm for pool hours.
