Each summer participants from all the Summer Playground
sites came together at
for Closing Ceremonies.
Dinner is served
while music is played for everyone to enjoy. At the completion
of dinner, the awards ceremony
begins. Each area supervisor recognized the outstanding boy and girl
participant at each of their
parks and thanked their staff for a wonderful summer. At this time,
business supporters and community
volunteers were also recognized for their contributions to the
Playground Program.
Awards from the
Works of Art program, and the Nature Center are presented
on stage to those participants who
excelled in the respective programs throughout the summer.
In addition, a new partnership was formed
this year as Keep Austin Beautiful presented awards to the
winners of a citywide poster contest. After
the ceremony ended, everyone was invited to come inside to
enjoy cake and music as they visited with
the Playground Leaders and received their certificates.
Each year the Closing Ceremonies is the perfect
end to a fantastic summer with the Playground Program!
