Each summer the Summer Playground Program holds the Opening Ceremonies to begin the summer of activites.
Over 300 childred parades
with their area banners through the arches that lead to the stage. The festivities begin with a traditional box hockey game with a Playground participant.
After the
entertainment, the children participated in many different activities such as the moonwalk, climbing wall, super slide and booths from the Austin Fire Department, American Red Cross
and Keep Austin Beautiful. A new member of the Austin Police Departments K-9 unit made an appearance with the police. The kids enjoyed a lunch of carrots, milk, peaches, and hotdogs
all provided by the Summer Food Service Program.
