The Texas heat can sure get to anyone. In fact it made the Summer
Playground participants
a little crazy for Wacky Games at the Polo Fields of
Zilker Park.
Every seven minutes each group of kids rotated through all sixteen activities.
Activities for the day ranged
from Watermelon Seed Spitting to the Sea Waiver. Since the sun was
out a lot of the activities
involved water to cool down the kids. Some of the water activities
were, Sponge Relay, Water Pole,
and Soppy Shirt Relay.
The most unique activity was the Art. Kids
pushed around paint balls on
white paper with styrofoam noodles. The end result was an abstract
picture of red, yellow, and blue
strokes. At noon the kids enjoyed a lunch provided by the Summer
Food Program. After lunch and a
break the kids resumed their activities. At one o'clock everyone
boarded the buses for home with
smiles and wet clothes.
