South Austin Recreation Center was completed and officially dedicated with opening ceremonies on September 5, 1974. Situated on approximately 10 acres of land, the facility includes an indoor gym, stage, club room, kitchen and an outdoor basketball court, two tennis courts, picnic area, play scape and ballfields.

The center offers recreational programs for children (ages 4-12), teenagers, adults, and senior citizens ranging from sports leagues, children's camps, group exercise classes, and special events.

Annual events include the Easter Egg Hunt in March or April, the Summer Talent Show in July, the Harvest Festival in October, and the Thanksgiving Banquet in November.
