2010 Neighborhood Swim Team Program

Registration begins April 1st so do not delay.
    Goals:
  1. Teach and improve the four competitive strokes.
  2. Promote physical fitness
  3. Promote team spirit.
  4. Develop a positive attitude toward competition.
The program begins on June 7th and will finish up July 17th at the T.A.A.F. Regional Meet. Those who qualify may go on to the state meet August 5th – 8th. Teams practice 5 days a week at their designated time. Children ages 5-17 years of age with NO FEAR of WATER, who can already SWIM AT LEAST 25 YARDS are eligible to participate. Swimmers who have participated in a year round organized program (example USS) are NOT eligible to participate in this program. This is a recreational neighborhood summer swim team program and is Texas Amateur Athletic Foundation (T.A.A.F.) affiliated.

Swim Meets: Swim meets will be held every Saturday starting June 19th. The last swim meet will be on July 17th. Warm-ups are approximately are from 8am - 9am, meet start time 9am until finished. The meets will be held at Canyon Vista, Dick Nichols, Dove Springs and Martin Pools. Your teams specified meet locations and dates will be included in your parent's information packet, handed out the first week of practice.

Fees: $70.00 $10.00 for team t-shirt (optional)

Volunteers Needed: This year we will be having a combination of certified coaches and parent volunteer coaches. If you are interested in helping to coach your child's team, please call 974-9343 and speak to Donita Grinde-Houtman. Parent volunteers are needed for each swim meet to time events, score events, write ribbons, and judge strokes. Program costs are kept at a minimum with help from volunteers. Please support your swim team with time and energy to ensure a quality, affordable program.

Parents' Information Packet: A parent information packet, detailing rules and guidelines for the program will be available the first week of practice. Also included in the parent's information packet is the schedule for the Saturday meets.

Parents' Meeting: A brief parents' meeting will occur pool side on the first day of your child's practice. We will be handing out T.A.A.F. waivers at this meeting. We will need your child's waiver back by the first swim meet. The Aquatics office will no longer take birth certificates. Parents will need to have a copy of your child's birth certificate for every swim meet, in the event that age verification is needed. If you do not have one at the time your child might be disqualified.

T.A.A.F. Regional Meet: The Regional Meet will be held at the University of Texas Swim Center on Saturday, July 17th. Further information will be handed out at your practices.

State Swim Meet: If your child qualifies for the State Meet (places 1st or 2nd overall in their events at the Regional Meet) they then will be eligible to participate in the State Games of Texas. Please, stop by the State qualification table at the City Meet and fill out your child's paperwork and pay for the event fee(s) that they have qualified for. A State Team parents meeting will be held Sunday, July 18th at the Aquatics Office at 6:00pm and will last about 2 hours. This year all of your State paperwork will have to be turned into the Aquatic Office by 5:00pm on July 19th.
