Building Austin's Transportation Network
Whether you are in a car, on a bike, in a wheelchair, or on foot, Public Works helps to get you where you're going. The City of Austin's Public Works Department manages major road reconstruction projects such as Lamar Boulevard and Cesar Chavez Street; helps manage traffic flow after the roads are built; and repairs the roads when needed. Public Works installs and maintains traffic signals and markings and works with neighborhoods and businesses to address traffic concerns.
